2026 Jim McLean Labor Day Classic Ends In a Four Hole Playoff
Palm Beach Gardens, FL - Henry Liebwein (Boys 13-18), Alexandra Phung (Girls 13-18), and Eli Widom (Boys 11-12) were all victorious at the South Florida PGA Junior Tour’s Jim McLean Labor Day Classic held this weekend at PGA National Golf Resort in Palm Beach Gardens. Competing on both the Champion and Fazio courses, more than 160 juniors from all across the nation showed up with hopes of claiming the prestigious Labor Day Classic title.

Girls 13–18 Division
Going into the final round, Alexandra Phung of Boca Raton was just one stroke behind Petra Compton of Palmetto Bay, who stood at 3-under par. The two remained close throughout the round, with Phung drawing even with Compton on the 14th hole as they headed into the final stretch.
When asked about the tie, Phung said, “I felt like I just needed to play the best I could. Just make smart decisions and apply some pressure. I think that puts me in the best position.”
Both girls battled back and forth until the 17th hole, where Phung took the lead with a birdie and ultimately secured the tournament victory.
When asked about the adjustments she made between the second and third rounds, Phung said, “I was able to talk through the round with my brother Leo. He gave me some good advice going into the round, saying, ‘Don’t attack every pin. That course is made for professionals. You really just need to play smart and know when to attack and when to be conservative.’”
With the victory, Phung also secured her spot in the Cameron Young–Justin Thomas Junior Challenge Cup at Emerald Dunes Club on December 12-14th.
Cameron Young–Justin Thomas South Florida PGA Junior Challenge
The Champions of both the Boys and Girls 13-18 Divisions secured spots in the inaugural Cameron Young–Justin Thomas South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Cup on December 12-14, 2026 at Emerald Dunes Club. The event will feature 24-players competing in a Ryder Cup-style competition with Cameron Young and Justin Thomas serving as team captains.

Boys 13–18 Division
Entering the 18th hole during the final round, Henry Liebwein of Fort Myers and Luke Harrigan of Hobe Sound remained separated by just one stroke atop the leaderboard. Liebwein stood at 1-under par while awaiting the conclusion of Harrigan’s round. With inclement weather looming, Harrigan reached the final green at 2-under par but carded a bogey, forcing a playoff with Liebwein on the 10th tee.
Following the three-hour delay, Liebwein and Harrigan returned to the 10th tee for a dramatic four-hole sudden death playoff. The championship ultimately came down to the 18th, where Liebwein sealed the victory with a decisive birdie putt.
Reflecting on his mindset entering the playoff after the weather delay, Liebwein shared, “I was trying not to think at all, to be honest. I just wanted to go in with a positive mindset.”
With the victory, Liebwein also secured his spot in the Cameron Young–Justin Thomas Junior Challenge Cup at Emerald Dunes Club, December 12–14.

Boys 11-12 Winner
In the Boys 11-12 division, Eli Widom of Parkland built a 10-shot lead after 2 rounds gaining the advantage over runner-up Vivek Lee of Parkland, finishing at 1-over par. Widom dominated the field by pouring in nine total birdies over the tournament.
When questioned if he made any strategic adjustments, Widom shared,
“No, not really. Just trying to stick to the basics and not do anything crazy.”
Widom now turns his focus toward maintaining his strong momentum as he prepares to tee it up at the South Florida PGA Medalist Tour’s event at Okeeheelee on October 31 - November 1, 2026.
