South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Tour - Back in Action!
June 12th 2020 - The South Florida PGA welcomed 78 Junior Challenge Tour members back to the course at Hammock Creek Golf Club this past week after a three-month hiatus due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.  This two-day event featured fierce competition and a sold-out field of junior golfers ages 11-18. 
 
After firing off rounds of 76 and 82, Nicole Sardinha captured the first-place spot in the girls 11-12 division and Abigail Halpern took home the second-place spot with rounds of 91, 79. 
 
In the boys 11-12 division, Ibby Carrington carded impressive scores of 70, 68 for a total of six-under, securing himself the first-place trophy. Cruz Pierce placed second in the division with rounds of 75, 69 which left him at even par for the two-day event. 
 
Layla Pedrique secured the top spot in the girls 13-15 division with scores of 75, 76. In the boys 13-15 group, Francesco Abbonizio Orsi captured first place with scores of 73, 72 for the tournament. 
 
In the girls 16-18 division, Jonna Hubbs earned herself first place with scores of 75, 78. Closely behind Hubbs and taking home second place in the division, Noelle Jensen carded scores of 71, 83. 
 
Ben Weins placed first in the boys 16-18 division after shooting rounds of 76, 74 and Diego Rojas earned the second-place title in the division with rounds of 77, 76. 
 
A playoff for both the overall titles in the girls 13-18 and boys 13-18 division ensued after Layla Pedrique and Staci Pla both ended the tournament with a combined two-day total of 151. After a sudden death playoff on 18, Staci Pla came out on top earning herself the overall girl’s title for the tournament. The overall boy’s play-off was equally as exciting with a sudden-death play-off between Pavel Tsar and Francesco Abbonizio Orsi who both had a combined two-day total of 145. The play-off which lasted three holes, in the end, Pavel Tsar secured the victory on the 18th green.
