South Florida PGA Junior Tour Welcomes in the 2020 Season with Challenge Tour Event #1.

ATLANTIS, FL – The South Florida PGA Junior Tour 2020 season was set into motion this past weekend with a sold-out Challenge Tour Event at the Country Club of Coral Springs in Coral Springs, FL. The Junior Challenge Tour field showed up in full force with 84 competitors braving through the impending rain during round one of the event on Saturday, February 1st. While the clouds kept things cool for day two of the Challenge Tour Event, the junior players brought the heat during the first Junior Tour Event of the 2020 season.  

Although a newcomer to Florida, Denmark native Lucas Lund-Larsen, claimed his victory in his first career South Florida Junior Tour event this weekend, winning the boys overall 13-18 division. Lucas dominated round one of the Challenge Tour event, posting a score of 2-under 69 and giving himself a 3-shot lead on Coral Springs local TJ Thompson. TJ fought back in the final pairing of Sunday’s round, firing a 1-over 72, but in the end, Lucas was able to edge out the victory by 1 shot after rounds of 69-74.  

TJ Thompson took home the boy’s 13-15 age division, while David Kite claimed the boys 16-18 age division. Mateo Desmond of Pompano Beach captured the boys 11-12 division with two outstanding rounds of 69-72.

Ariana Silva of Fort Lauderdale claimed the overall girls 13-18 title to start off her 2020 season. Ariana opened with a 3-over 74, leading Allesandra Lorenz by 1-shot heading into the final round on Sunday.  Ariana fired a 6-over 77 in her final round to claim victory, 2 shots ahead of Hobe Sound resident, Morgan Pichler, who posted an impressive final round 74. Morgan went on to claim first place in the girls 13-15 division, just 3 shots ahead of Palm Beach Gardens native, Madison Moman.

In the girls 16-18 division, Ashley Zimmerman took home the first-place trophy putting up rounds of 80-83 and in the girls 11-12 division, Abigail Halpern took home the trophy after shooting 80-85.
