Alex Heard and Brianna Castaldi Win South Florida PGA Championship Tour Event No. 1
ATLANTIS, FL - The 2020 South Florida PGA Junior Championship Tour began this weekend during Championship Tour Event No. 1 at Santa Lucia River Club.
This two-day, 36-hole event challenged 77 junior golfers, ages 13-18, as they navigated between countless hazards and deceiving greens. The junior golfers were met by cold weather to start the event on Saturday, followed by a gusty day on Sunday, putting their accuracy and skills to the test.
First place for boys overall ages 13-18 was captured by Alex Heard with an impressive score of 77-70. Alex Heard is the son of Rick Heard, PGA who is a PGA Member and works at the Don Law Academy at Osprey Point.
Min Jun Kim and Fynn Fenstermacher were in a tight race for second overall and first place for boys 16-18. Kim and Fenstermacher battled it out on the course and ended in a scorecard playoff. Kim picked up second place for overall boys 13-18, as well as first place in the boys 16-18 division with rounds of 80-78.Fynn Fenstermacher carded scores of 78-80 claiming the third-place boys overall spot.
Leading the overall girls ages 13-18 division and securing first place was Brianna Castaldi. Castaldi grinded out both round, carding 80-77 and securing her the top spot.
After a scorecard playoff, Jordan Fischer took home the girls overall second place as well as first place for the girls 13-15 group with scores of 84-77. Gloria Nip was close behind for third place for girls overall shooting rounds of 77-84.
Winning the girls ages 16-18 division was Vanessa Chychrun with scores of 79-85. NaShawn Tyson took home the trophy for the boys 13-15 division after carding scores of 82-77 over the weekend.
