Kuchar, Barcalova and Wells Win Medalist Tour Event at Links at Boynton Beach
Over 80 South Florida PGA Medalist Tour members gathered at the Links at Boynton Beach this past weekend for a highly anticipated two-day, 36-hole golf event.
After a clear first day, play was ultimately suspended on Sunday due to inclement weather. As a result, the final scores for the event were based solely on the performances of the golfers during the first 18 holes.
In the Boy’s 13-18, Cameron Kuchar was named tournament champion, due to his impressive seven birdies to help him to a total score of 4-under, 67.
Jj Hyun Her of Pembroke Pines and Bento Assis of Porto Alegre, Brazil finished round one at 2-under, 69. However, after a scorecard playoff, Her clinched the second-place title due to his better back-nine performance.
In the Girl's 13-18 division, Miriam Baracalov of Boynton Beach claimed victory, separating herself from the rest of the field. The Winter Kick-off Champion continued her winning streak by carding a 3-under, 68, with the assistance of six birdies. Barcalova achieved her second season victory, two-strokes ahead of Leah Gram from Jupiter, who finished second.
Finally, in the Boy's 11-12 division, Parker Wells from Palm Beach Gardens emerged as the winner, shooting a 12-over, 154. Following him closely was Jack Smith from Miami Springs, who finished with a total score of 17-over, 159.
Congratulations to all of our Champions, and a special thank you to Bo Preston, PGA and his staff at Links at Boynton Beach for hosting this event.
The Medalist Tour season will continue on March 9-10 at Martin Downs Golf Club.
