Schaefer and Kennedy Win Challenge Event No. 8
ATLANTIS, FL - Katherine Schaefer (Southwest Ranches) and Frank Kennedy (Tequesta) took home the eighth event of the South Florida PGA Challenge Tour season on October 19 th at Weston Hills Country Club.
This 36-hole event welcomed junior golfers aged 11-18 from across south Florida to Weston Hills Country Club.
Schaefer, 2024, carded a 77, tying Morgan Pichler (Hobe Sound) after the first round. The second round again resulted in a tie between the two, each carding a 74. After a three-hole playoff, Schaefer birdied the hole to win the division by one shot over Pichler.
Kennedy, 2024, carded a first-round 73 to help take the lead by three over MU Sun (Boynton Beach) in the Overall Boy's 13-18 Division. After a second-round 74, Kennedy was able to hold his lead and edge out Sun by two.
In the Girl's and Boy's 11-12 Division, Ariana Silva (74-74, 148) and Pavel Tsar (69-72, 141) won their division. Schaefer and Kennedy took home the titles in the Girl's and Boy's 13-15 Division. As for the Girl's and Boy's 16-18 Division, Nadia Poncy (86-83, 169) and Diego Rojas (78-78, 156) won their division titles.
The Challenge Tour is one of the South Florida PGA Junior Golf's five tours in which young golfers can compete. The South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Tour is a series of two-day events at some of South Florida's premiere facilities. Membership is open to all juniors 11-18 who meet certain scoring and age requirements.
