Brooks Hansen, Esther Li, Carson Lowe, Sophia Christy, Carson Brauth and Myla Kumar earn medalist honors in Sunday’s Prep Tour event at PGA National Estates
Palm Beach Gardens, Fl - The South Florida PGA Junior Tour was in full swing this weekend as 70 Prep Tour members took on PGA National Estates Sunday.
In the boys 13-18 division, Brooks Hansen of Jupiter held onto a commanding lead to finish with a 6-over 78, carding a birdie at the par-5, 5th hole. Hansen finished three strokes ahead of runner-up Thomas Nevico of Boynton Beach, with Nevico capping off his 9-over 81 with a birdie on the 18th.
In the girls 13-18 division, Li held onto a comfortable lead as she went 3-over on the back nine with a birdie at the par-5, 15th hole to finish with a 7-over 79, three shots clear of runner-up Madison Logan of Fort Lauderdale who shot a 10-over 82 on the round.
In the younger 11-12 age division, Lowe of West Palm Beach was also able to end his round with a three shot lead over Drew Davis of Coral Gables, carding two birdies on his front nine for a 4-over 76. Although finishing second, Davis carded three birdies on the day to finish with a 7-over 79.
In the same age division for the girls, Sophia Christy of South Barrington, IL shot a 5-over 77 round highlighted by an eagle on the 18th, allowing her to jump to a two-shot lead over second-place finisher Aryanah Ahmad of Parkland, who finished with a 79.
In the youngest, 9-10 division, boys champion Carson Brauth of Palm Beach Gardens won by four strokes with two birdies to finish with a 3-over 75, the lowest round across all divisions.
Myla Kumar of Pompano Beach finished with a 16-over 88 going par-par on her last two holes to complete her day and win the girl’s 9-10 division.
