Gabriel Holtz, Honorine Nebuta Ferry and Christian Koehn Earn Medalist Tour Win at Martin Downs
Palm City, Fl - The South Florida PGA Junior Tour welcomed over 60 of the area’s top juniors to Martin Downs Golf Club this weekend for a 36-hole Medalist Tour event.
In the boy’s 13-18 division, Gabriel Holtz of Boca Raton started his weekend strong with a 2-under opening round of 70, to lead by two strokes. Holtz’s two-over 74 on Sunday was enough to narrowly hold off runner-up Harrison Browne of Westport, CT, with Browne’s final round of 72. Holtz’s even par total marked the lowest score throughout all age divisions.
It was a two-horse race in the girl’s 13-18 division as Honorine Nebuta Ferry of West Palm Beach and Angela Nip of Port St. Lucie ended their weekend’s five strokes clear of the field, both finishing at one-over par. A playoff was held with a pair of pars on the first hole, but Ferry made birdie on the second hole to emerge victorious.
In the boys 11-12 division, Christian Koehn opened with an even par round of 72, sitting atop the leaderboard with three other players. Koehn’s one-over final round 73 included five birdies on the day, three coming on the back nine giving him the separation he needed to take the title.
This weekend’s medalist event awarded two AJGA stars to the champion of the boys 13-18 division with 1 star awarded to the top-5 finishers and 1 star to the boys 11-12 champion.
Congratulations to everyone who participated and a special thank you to Martin Downs Golf Club for having us!
