Hsu, McMillan and Shabashkevich Capture 41st Nicklaus Junior Championship Titles
Jupiter, FL — The Bear’s Club and Tequesta Country Club hosted the 41st Nicklaus Junior Championship, held Monday and Tuesday, welcoming a field of 160 junior golfers.

As the fourth of eight Junior Majors on the 2025 South Florida PGA Junior Tour schedule, this championship is conducted in partnership with the Palm Beach County Golf Association.
In the Boys 13-18 Division, Jeremy Hsu of Port Saint Lucie captured the title with back-to-back under-par rounds. Hsu opened with a 2-under 70, trailing the leader by just one stroke heading into the final round. He followed up with another 2-under 70 to secure the win by two shots over Tristan Rhodenizer of Palm Beach Gardens and Ignacio Hurtado of Weston.
“My short game was amazing. It hasn’t been this good in six months, but it was great. It always feels good when you win,” said Hsu.
In the Girls 13-18 Division, the title was decided in a thrilling sudden-death playoff between Reese McMillan of Jupiter and Bella Simoes of Lake Worth, both finishing at 2-over for the championship. After a one-hole playoff, McMillan — a 2029 graduate — emerged victorious on her home course at Tequesta.
McMillan rallied from a six-shot deficit after an opening 6-over 76, firing a 2-under 69 in the final round — the tournament low for the girls division — to force the playoff and ultimately claim the title.
“Since this is my home course in Tequesta, I had a lot of people and members supporting me, so that was really fun,” McMillan shared.
In the Boys 11-12 Division, Gabriel Shabashkevich of Boca Raton earned top honors with rounds of 79-80 (159), winning by four shots over Atlas Andrews of West Palm Beach and William Lorberbaum of Delray Beach.
The South Florida PGA extends its thanks to The Bear’s Club, led by PGA Director of Golf and South Florida PGA President Eric Veilleux, and Tequesta Country Club, led by PGA Director of Golf Brian Dionisio and his team, for their hospitality and continued support of the South Florida PGA Junior Tour.
This week’s Nicklaus Junior Championship marked the fourth of eight majors on the 2025 SFPGA Junior Tour calendar. Up next: the Brendan Cunningham Junior Open, set for July 10–12 at Hammock Bay Golf & Country Club.
