Stonebridge Country Club Hosts Junior PGA Championship
Boca Raton, FL – June 18th – The South Florida PGA Junior Tour staged its third major of the season, welcoming 80 junior golfers for the Junior PGA Championship, held June 16-17 at Stonebridge Country Club.
The major belonged to Gabriel Holtz of Boca Raton and Eva Lye of Naples, who each turned in championship performances to win titles in the Boys' and Girls' 13-18 divisions.
Holtz delivered a commanding wire-to-wire victory, firing rounds of 67-66 to post an 11-under-par total and finish seven shots clear of the field. In the Girls 13-18 division, Lye clinched her title with a clutch birdie on the final hole to edge Alexandra Phung of Boca Raton by a single shot.
Holtz, a rising 2026 graduate, wasted no time seizing control of the tournament, opening with a 5-under 67 to grab a two-shot lead over Tristan Rhodenizer of Palm Beach Gardens. He then followed it up with a bogey-free back nine and seven birdies in the final round—including five on his closing nine—for a tournament-low 66, sealing his second win in as many weeks after triumphing at Hammock Creek.
In the Girls 13-18 division, Lye, a 2025 graduate committed to High Point University, came out firing with a two-under 34 on her opening nine in the final round. After an even-par 72 on day one, Lye entered the final round tied with Phung. Her closing 2-under 70 proved enough to grab the win, capped by a birdie on the 18th hole to secure her first SFPGA major title of the season
“This win means so much to me as it is assurance that I have what it takes,” said Lye. “Knowing this was my last SFPGA Junior event, it is so special to end with a win, as I want to leave a positive impact on everyone involved in these events that are run so well. Coming to the last hole, I knew I had to birdie it, and I truly believed I would. Staying joyful in each moment got me through the challenges of a very competitive field. I am so grateful for the SFPGA staff and the generous golf courses that hosted me over the years.”
Finishing runner-up in the Boys 13-18 division was Rhodenizer, who carded rounds of 4-under 69-71. In the Girls division, Phung, a Stonebridge Country Club member, also turned in a stellar performance with rounds of 1-under 72-71 to finish second.
Both Holtz and Lye, along with Rhodenizer and Phung, have now punched their tickets to represent the South Florida PGA at the 49th Boys & Girls Junior PGA Championships, to be contested July 29 – August 1, 2025, at the prestigious Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana—a national championship that has launched the careers of some of the game’s best.
This week’s Junior PGA Championship marked the third of eight majors on the SFPGA Junior Tour calendar for 2025. Next up: the Nicklaus Junior Championship, set for June 23-24 at The Bear’s Club and Tequesta Country Club.
The South Florida PGA extends its thanks to Stonebridge Country Club, led by Director of Golf Jeff Hall, Head PGA Professional Jordan Mathers, and Assistant Professional Jared Sisco, for hosting this year’s Championship.
