Kuehne and Thompson End In Playoff to Close out the Weekend
Boca Raton - Another successful Medalist Tour event was hosted this weekend at Osprey Point Golf Course. Competition was fierce throughout the two- day, 36 hole event.
With nine players going into Sunday’s round at under par, the Boy’s 13-18 division went head-to-head for first place honors. Gabe Holtz of Boca Raton and TJ Thompson of Coral Springs started their final rounds at 3-under par to take the lead in the Boy’s division.
Continuing his stride into round two, Thompson capped both rounds with eight total birdies and one eagle. Thompson finished at 8-under with a 2-day total 69-67–136.
Accompanying Thompson in first, Henry Kuehne of Palm Beach Gardens started Sunday’s round, three strokes back of the lead. Kuehne went lights out in round two with zero bogeys, five birdies and one eagle, carding a tournament-low seven-under.
Thompson and Kuehne both finished play at eight-under leading to a sudden death playoff on the Hawks Course par five, number nine. After a long awaited battle, Thompson effortlessly claimed birdie on the hole and took home the gold in the Boy’s 13-18 division.
Similarly to the Boy’s, the Girls 13-18 field was incredibly strong throughout the event. Going into Sunday’s round two strokes shy of the lead, Nicole Sardhina of Miramar shot a bogey free front nine, and carded a division low, 67. Sardhina’s comeback from two-over to five-under earned her the champion title in the Girls division, three strokes ahead of Valentina Marie Guertin.
Special thank you to Susan Kipp and the rest of the team at Osprey Point Golf Course for hosting this weekend’s event. The Medalist season will continue next weekend at Martin Downs Golf Course.
