Nana Tanke, Shamy Hold On to Win South Florida PGA Junior Cup at Old Palm

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL - Ryan Nana Tanke and Zoe Shamy closed out narrow leads to emerge victorious at Old Palm Golf Club, host of the South Florida PGA Junior Cup.
The SFPGA Junior Cup is the sixth major of the South Florida PGA Junior Tour season and hosts the top junior golfers in the area for a three-day event, played for the first time at Old Palm Golf Club. This major welcomed 94 golfers, with the field cut to 40 percent following round two.
Zoe Shamy of Jupiter fired an opening round three-under (69), to set pace for the Girls 13-18 division, ultimately finishing the three days at three-under par to win the title.
After 10 birdies through her opening 36 holes, Shamy went birdie-less through her first 11 holes to start round three, however carded her first birdie of the day on 12 just before players were taken off for severe weather.
After an hour delay, Shamy resumed play and wrapped, making par on each of her remaining holes to win the event with a total three-under, securing her first SFPGA Junior Tour major win.
Nicole Sardinha of Miami and Leah Gram of Jupiter rounded out the top three with scores of two-under and two-over, respectively.
In the Boys 13-18 Division, 36-hole leader Ryan Nana Tanke (66-71) entered round three at seven-under, with a three stroke lead. However, he left himself a 10-foot bogey putt on hole seven before the weather delay.
Following the delay, Nana Tanke missed the putt and made double bogey on hole seven, opening the door for TJ Thompson to close the gap who made birdie on nine.
After two more bogeys on 12 and 13 to open the back nine, Nana Tanke birdied 15 and eagled 17 to climb to eight-under and win the event by three.
Thompson finished in second at five-under and Jack Kantowski placed third at three-under.
Congratulations to our 2023 SFPGA Jr. Cup Champions! Special thank you to Dan Terlescki, PGA and the rest of the staff at Old Palm Golf Club for hosting a great event!
