Patel and DeGasperis Secure Medalist Tour Victory
West Palm Beach - Sohan Patel and Gabriella DeGasperis claimed first place honors over the weekend at the Medalist Tour event at Banyan Cay Resort and Golf Club.
During Saturday’s round, the field was tested due to inclement weather, resulting in a suspension of the round on Sunday.
Despite bad weather in round one, Gabriella DeGasperis of Palm Beach Gardens finished her first round even-par in the Girl’s 13-18 division. DeGasperis went one-under on all par-4’s, giving her a four-stroke lead over Fernanda Carrion of Coral Gables.
DeGasperis carded six-over total (72-78–150) to claim her first win of the 2023 Medalist Tour season.
In the Boy’s 13-18 division, Sohan Patel of Weston had an unstoppable first round, carding seven birdies to land him at a tournament-low, six-under, 66.
Jack Quinn of Palm Beach Gardens, who shot two-under during round one, tried to surge ahead of Patel with another one-under round on Sunday. However, Patel’s five stroke lead heading into round two was too much to overcome. Patel claimed first place honors with a two-day total 66-70-137.
Congratulations to our Champions and to all our participants who came out! We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation throughout the weekend’s weather.
Special thanks to Head Golf Professional, Jared Chipley and the rest of his team at Banyan Cay for hosting this weekend’s event.
The Medalist Tour season will continue June 19-20 at the South Florida Jr. PGA Championship!
