SFPGA Medalist Tour Players Faced Windy Weekend at Eagle Trace Golf Club
Coral Springs, FL- This weekend, 81 Medalist Tour players participated in one of the last events of the 2023 Junior Tour season at Eagle Trace Golf Club.
With windy conditions making for a challenging first round, Valentina Marie Guertin and Cameron Kuchar took control and were the only two players to finish round one under par.
Guertin of Boynton Beach hit 14 of 14 fairways during round one, helping her to build a strong lead at 1-under, 71 in the Girl’s 13-18 division.
Beginning round two at a seven-stroke deficit, Ann Sophie Bourgault of Naples had a hot putter, carding six birdies in her back nine and finishing play at 78-68–146. In the end, it was enough to edge out Guertin by two strokes and Bourgault claimed first place honors in the Girl’s Division.
After an opening round 69, Kuchar started his second round with a four-stroke lead over Joey Iaciofano and Eduardo Ferreira in the Boy’s 13-18 Division. However, Ferreira carded six birdies on his way to a two-under 70, enough to edge out Kuchar by a stroke.
The Boy’s 11-12 Division was led by Chris Nana Tanke and Jose Carlos Lopez-Lay, both shooting 78 in round one. Nana Tanke pulled ahead of Lay during round two after going one-under through his first nine holes and closing the tournament at 78-73–151.
The Medalist Tour season will head to the final event of the regular season next weekend at Mariner Sands Country Club before the Tour Championship in December at The Park West Palm.
