Veilleux Claims Medalist Tour Victory After Four-Hour Rain Delay and Eight Playoff Holes
Boynton Beach, FL - Christian Veilleux outlasted JJ Hyun Her in an eight hole playoff to claim his first Medalist Tour victory in the Boy’s 13-18 Division last week at Indian Spring Country Club.
After 36 holes, Veilleux and Her both carded a 71-73-146 total to force a playoff. Despite a four-hour rain delay during the playoff, Veilleux and Her took eight holes before deciding a champion. Veilleux closed with a birdie on hole number one’s par five to claim victory.
Before weather impeded play, starting off Thursday’s round with 1-under through her front nine, Nicole Wu of Davie surged to a first place position in the Girl’s 13-18 division. One stroke back of Wu, Gabriella DeGasperis of Palm Beach Gardens and Yool Her of Pembroke Pines closed out round one at 2-over.
Gabriella DeGasperis (73-69–142) carded four birdies to close out her final round 2-under and claim victory in the Girl’s division.
Firing a tournament low on Friday, Aubrey Pichler of Hobe Sound finished one stroke back of first with a total 75-68–143.
Congratulations to our champions!
