Albert and Hiller Punch Tickets to the 2023 Junior PGA Championship
Boca Raton - This week, 83 players competed at the South Florida Junior PGA Championship, the third of eight majors hosted throughout the SFPGA Junior Tour season.
The top-two finalists from each age division advanced to the national Junior PGA Championship at Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas, August 1-4.
Gabriella Albert, who finished second in last year’s event, carded five birdies during Monday’s round, propelling her to a first place position in the Girl’s 13-18 division. Layla Pedrique of Palm Beach Gardens, carded a bogey- free front nine and finished one shot back of Albert.
“The first hole, I went in with the mentality to hit fairways and greens,” Gabriella Albert explained.
Albert went on to finish play with a total 70–72–142 and claim her first place title and entry into her second Junior PGA Championship.
“My goal is to make the cut or finish in the top-25,” expressed Albert. “I believe my game has gotten a lot better so we will see.”
In the Boy’s 13-18 division, Oscar Crowe of Boca Raton and JJ Hyun Her of Pembroke Pines had an impeccable opening round, both finishing at 4-under.
“I just kept my head down and played my game,” Crowe explained as the secret to his success during Monday’s round.
Players struggled during round two due to windy conditions. However, the wind was no match for Jackson Hiller of Vero Beach who shot a 3-under, 69 and came out victorious with a two-day total 72-69–141 for first place honors.
The battle for the final spot into the Jr. PGA Championship was filled after Brooks Colton of Riviera Beach shot 3-under and defeated Oscar Crowe in a scorecard playoff.
Congratulations to our champions and best of luck as they head to the 2023 Jr. PGA Championship!
