Arce, Zepeda and Brown Win South Florida PGA Medalist Tour Event at Crane Watch Club
Palm City, FL - Aidan Arce, Vanessa Zepeda and Nicholas Brown took home championship honors after a windy weekend at Crane Watch Club for the South Florida PGA Medalist Tour event Saturday and Sunday.
After finishing the first round at 6-over 78, Arce of Davie was five shots back going into the final round on Sunday. With the help of five birdies and only two bogeys in the 18 holes, Arce matched the tournament-low round of 3-under 69 to force a playoff with Luke Parsons of Juno Beach.
With both players at 3-over at the end of the 36-hole regulation, the two would compete in a sudden death playoff, starting on the par-5, first hole. Arce would come out on top with a par, ultimately winning the boys 13-18 division.
In the girls 13-18 division, Zepeda of Boca Raton finished the 36-hole-event at 6-over with scores of 76-74–150, claiming the title by two shots. Zepeda led the field in number of pars or better with 28.
Winning the boys 11-12 division, Brown of Sarasota sank five birdies to go along with just two bogeys en route to matching the tournament-low round of 3-under 69. Brown followed up his opening round with a 1-under 71, making him the only player in the event to finish both rounds under par. Brown wrapped the two day event at 4-under with scores of 69-71–140.
