Ed Ficker embodies the true spirit of sportsmanship. His attitude, demeanor, and unwavering dedication to the game of golf reflect the exceptional character that has defined his career. As the Head Golf Professional at Tequesta Country Club for an impressive 41 years, Ed set the standard for professionalism, retiring in 2006 with countless honors. Among his many achievements, he received prestigious awards from the South Florida PGA, served as Vice President and Director of the PGA of America, and was inducted into the South Florida PGA Hall of Fame in 2001.
Each year, the Ed Ficker Sportsmanship Award is presented in honor of Ed’s profound respect for the traditions of the game. This award recognizes one boy and one girl who exemplify the highest qualities of a junior golfer, both on and off the course. These individuals consistently display positivity, grace, and a genuine ability to uplift those around them, regardless of their performance. It is truly a privilege to have these exemplary players as part of our Junior Tour.
