Silva and Woods Dominate South Florida PGA High School Championship
NAPLES, FL - Sagemont Prep (Girls) and The Benjamin School (Boys) claimed the West Coast High School Championship title this past weekend at Cypress Woods Golf and Country Club.
The second of two South Florida PGA Junior Tour High School Championship, played on Florida’s West Coast, the field was composed of 23 High School Golf teams and 118 total participants.
Due to weather, the event was modified to an 18 hole event, taking only round one scores.
In the Boys division, The Benjamin School catapulted an early lead for first place honors. Carding 21 birdies as a team, Charlie Woods (65), Tyler Bruneau (70), Aiden Miller (72) and Luke Wise (74) helped the team to a five shot victory over Somerset Academy.
Freshman Charlie Woods paved the way for the Buccaneers. With an impressive run, Woods carded nine birdies securing a tournament low 7-under, 65 and the individual title in the Boy’s division.
After winning the East Coast High School Championship title the previous week, Sagemont Preparatory team continued the good play in the Girl’s Division. With the help from Ariana Silva (68), Abigail Lee (84), Rachel Gomez (78) and Elisa Hernandez (84) the team shot a total 314 claiming victory over The Community School of Naples (319).
East Coast Individual Girl’s Champion, Ariana Silva, returned to the winner’s circle to claim back-to-back individual honors, shooting a four-under 68 with the help of six birdies and just two bogeys.
