Due to ongoing weather conditions throughout the weekend, play was suspended and adjusted into a 18-hole event. In addition, this event marked the first qualifying opportunity into the South Florida PGA Junior Championship in June.
Round one resumed Sunday morning with a shotgun start. Leading the field in the Boy’s 13-18 division, Cameron Kuchar of Harrison, Idaho notched a tournament low 4-under, 68. Kuchar carded seven total birdies to aid in his first place victory. Two shots back of Kuchar, Hugo Stenstrom of Miami carded an eagle on 17 and claimed runner-up.
William Richards of Miami dominated with a bogey-free front nine landing him in first place position for the Boy’s 11-12 division. Richards carded a tournament low, 4-under, 68. Following behind, Zachary Felton of Estero closed his round at 6-over, 78.
For the Girl’s 13-18 division, Co-Champions, Gloria Nip and Sabrina Kim of Port St. Lucie claimed a first place score of 2-over. One stroke back of first, Catherine Andino of Boca Raton scored a 37 in her back nine and won in a scorecard playoff for second place honors.
Congratulations to all of our champions of the weekend! We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation throughout the weather conditions. Special thank you to Dennis Zasoski and the rest of the team at Crane Watch Club for hosting this weekend’s event.
The Medalist Tour season will continue on May 5th at Wellington National.
