Oscar Crowe and Annie Jin Emerge Victorious at 2024 Patty Berg Championship
Over the weekend, 96 South Florida PGA Callaway Medalist Tour players participated in the second of eight majors throughout the 2024 season with Oscar Crowe and Annie Jin winning the Boy’s and GIrl’s Divisions respectively.
Since 2019, the South Florida PGA has administered the Patty Berg Championship at Cypress Lake Golf Club where Patty Berg, a renowned professional golfer, was a founding member and used the facilities as her home course during much of her playing career.
Crowe, of Boca Raton, took an early lead with a two-under 70 in the first round. He continued his strong performance in the second round, carding a tournament low 32-34–67, with five birdies and one eagle to advance to 7-under. Despite struggling in the final round, Crowe's early lead allowed him to finish at 4-under and secure the first-place title in the Boy's 13-18 division.
Jack Ryan Donavan of Ave Maria finished as runner-up with consistent play, shooting 71-70-71 in the three rounds, finishing three strokes behind Crowe.
Annie Jin of Bradenton took the lead in the Girl's 13-18 division, with a 1-under score of 71 in the second round and never let it go, firing a three-day total of 73-71-75–219. Jamie Lowry of Fort Myers and Jolie Pastorick of Sarasota tied for the second-place position at four-over. Lowry claimed second place after a scorecard playoff.
The tournament also witnessed a moment of magic from Eva Lye of Naples, who lit up the weekend with a tournament-low 71 in the final round, including an ace on the 15th hole, a par three, to cap off a back-nine score of 33.
Rounding out the weekend, Zachary Felton of Estero and Charles Sundermeier of Lake Worth battled for first-place honors in the Boy’s 11-12 division. Emerging victorious with a three-stroke victory, Felton carded a total 16-over, 232 to end the weekend.
Congratulations to all the 2024 Patty Berg Junior Champions, and a special thank you to Cypress Lake Golf Club for hosting another fantastic event honoring Patty Berg.
